Part Time Year-Round Opportunities

Volunteer & Group Tour Coordinator

The Volunteer & Group Tour Coordinator’s responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping an accurate database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills and fit the museum’s and staff teams’ needs, keeping volunteers informed with regular communications, and conveying the organization’s purpose to the public. Serving as the primary contact for Group Tour bookings, scheduling tours, scheduling group tour docents when needed, billing for group tours, and handling any post-visit follow-up. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a year-round, part-time position with increased hours during the peak operational summer season and event periods.

Seasonal Opportunities

Admission Clerk

Reporting directly to the Museum Store Manager, this seasonal position serves as ABM’s ambassador making an important first impression to all guests and visitors who enter the Museum. Highly effective ambassadors will demonstrate expertise in many areas including customer engagement and communication skills that will enhance the guest experience.

Museum Store Clerk

Reporting directly to the Museum Store Manager, this seasonal position serves as ABM’s ambassador making sure to assist all customers entering the store and encourage/promote store sales.

Seasonal Maintenance Assistant

The Antique Boat Museum is looking for a responsible, detail-oriented individual to be a seasonal maintenance assistant that will include working with all departments to assist with the care and maintenance of the facilities as well as event setup and take down. This seasonal position is tasked with ensuring the appearance of buildings and grounds are maintained at a high standard.

La Duchesse Interpreter

La Duchesse is the Museum’s Gilded Age houseboat once owned by George Boldt and later Andrew McNally III of Rand-McNally Maps. The 100+ foot floating home is open to visitors for regularly scheduled guided tours from May through October. Reporting directly to the Curator & Collections Manager, interpreters are responsible for sharing the history of La Duchesse with museum visitors through guided tours. Highly effective interpreters will engage and capture their audience ultimately enhancing the guest experience.

Waterfront Crew – Gallery Attendant

Reporting to the Museum Educator, the Waterfront Crew interacts with Museum guests daily and must be friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Their goal is to have guests take advantage of free skiff rowing while also ensuring the safety of people and property. The Livery is open 7 days a week from 12-4pm. The Crew may work on other projects as
assigned by the Educator, including supervising field trips, giving tours of the Gilded Age houseboat La Duchesse, and special events programming. In case of inclement weather, the Waterfront crew will serve as gallery attendants throughout the ABM facilities.

Lead Sailing Instructor

Reporting directly to the Museum Educator, this seasonal position will physically assist students with launching, rigging and storing boats and providing instruction for Optimists, Sunfish and 420s.

Reporting directly to the Museum Educator, this seasonal position is responsible for teaching sailing skills and assisting students with launching, rigging, and storing boats, and providing instruction for Optimists, C420s, and Sunfish.

Internships

Curatorial Inventory Internship (2)

The Antique Boat Museum is looking for two (2) Curatorial Inventory interns for the 2026 Season! Curatorial Inventory Interns will gain practical, hands-on experience through assisting with the inventory of the Antique Boat Museum’s small artifacts including a diverse array of hardware, tools, and other material culture related to recreational boating. The intern will learn some of the opportunities and challenges that arise in a professional museum setting through this experience. Given the size of the Museum’s small artifact collection, this internship is designed as a 2-person team project. This internship would be ideal for a student pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in museum studies who has an interest in cataloging and registrar work.

William J. Cosgrove Accounting Internship

The goal of this paid internship is to provide an individual with practical, hands-on accounting experience while benefiting from one-on-one mentorship to guide professional growth. The intern will obtain insight into some of the opportunities and challenges that arise in a non-profit entity.
