Sunset Cruises

A Sunset Cruise is a 2-hour cruise for up to 6 passengers in one of the Museum’s in-water fleet (for sunset cruises on Zipper see below). Rides depart from the Antique Boat Museum docks and cruise around Grindstone Island with a Volunteer Captain that has plenty of knowledge of the 1000 Islands area. To make the evening more enjoyable, you are allowed to bring aboard a small cooler with snacks and drinks, alcoholic beverages are permitted.

  • Sunset cruises are not available on event days or Antique Boat Show weekend.
  • From June to late August the boat departs the Antique Boat Museum docks at 6:30pm and returns at 8:30pm.
  • From late August to September the boat departs at 5:30pm and returns at 7:30pm.
  • No pick-ups or drop-offs at any location besides ABM docks.
  • No smoking or pets.

Sunset Cruise in Alan Jackson’s Chris Craft

New to the in-water fleet, country music star Alan Jackson’s Flat Top is available seven days a week for sunset cruises! Named in reference to the flat top steel-string acoustic guitars he commonly uses, Flat Top is one of thirty-six 30′ Semi-Enclosed Cruisers ever built by Chris Craft. To learn more about Flat Top, click here.

Sunset Cruise in Zipper

Designed in the 1930s, Zipper is our 41′ 1974 classic commuter and is the only one in our fleet approved by the USCG to accommodate up to 17 passengers. Zipper is available for sunset cruise charters on Tuesday evenings, and we offer a $100 discount for current members. Friends of the Museum receive a reduced fee and have the privilege to reserve Zipper any day of the week. To learn more about our Friends of the Museum program, click here.

Booking

Due to the popularity of this charter and the availability of our volunteer licensed captains, we ask that reservations be made at least 48 hours in advance.

Visitors may request a ride boat and/or captain however, ABM reserves the right to make a vessel substitution based on operational factors.

Please note that all on-water programs are weather-dependent, and the Museum reserves the right to cancel and re-book boat rides.

Our dock lift enables handicapped individuals to be easily and comfortably lifted into the ride boats. Please call ahead should use of the lift be required.

Museum captains are licensed Mariners by the United States Coast Guard. Museum vessels and equipment are inspected annually by the USCG.

Cost

Flat Top, Gadfly, Teal, or Miss TI III: $350 for 2 hours

Zipper (Tuesdays Only):

  • Visitors, $700 for 2 hours
  • Current Members, $600 for 2 hours

Our captains are not paid and volunteer their time to ABM, tipping is at the guest’s discretion.

Payment information will be collected at the time of booking and will be charged after the ride has gone out.

Refund Policy

In the event that the Museum needs to cancel your ride due to weather or mechanical issues, we will reschedule your ride or refund the fees.

To book a Sunset Cruise, please contact Matt Perrin at 315.686.4104 ext. 247 or mattperrin@abm.org.
