Our Intermediate Sailing course builds directly on the skills learned in Beginner Sailing and is designed for students who already understand the basics and have some experience sailing with a partner. Over the week, instructors focus on strengthening each sailor’s knowledge, confidence, and on-water communication. Students begin with quick refreshers on fundamentals such as points of sail, wind direction, terminology, sail trim, and capsize recovery before moving into more advanced skills. They will spend time learning the rules of the road, reading wind speed and water conditions, practicing efficient tacks and jibes, reinforcing knot-tying, and working through structured man-overboard recovery drills. Throughout the course, students take on more independence while still receiving close guidance from instructors. By the end of the week, the goal is for every sailor to feel capable, safe, and ready to either single-hand a Sunfish or handle more complex maneuvers with a partner on a C420 as they grow into confident, thoughtful skippers and crew.
