RRiver Rat Camp Day: Explore the St. Lawrence River Like Never Before!
This summer, the Antique Boat Museum is thrilled to offer a unique, hands-on science experience for kids right here on the banks of the St. Lawrence River! Our St. Lawrence Science Summer Camp is designed to help children explore the river’s amazing ecosystems through fun, interactive lessons and outdoor adventures.
Camp Dates:
🗓 Tuesday, July 22 and/or Tuesday, August 5
🕙 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Held on the ABM campus in Clayton, NY
💸 Tuition is free! Families can sign up for one or both days—each session will feature different activities that build on our theme of river ecology and exploration.
Over the course of the program, campers will:
- Investigate aquatic food webs and how river animals depend on each other to survive
- Collect and study macroinvertebrates (tiny critters living in the water!)
- Identify native aquatic plants and local fish species
- Try their hand at dockside fishing
- Build curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the ecosystems in their own backyard
This camp is perfect for curious kids ages 8 to 12. Participation is limited to 18 campers per session to ensure a personalized, hands-on experience.
Campers will be led by ABM’s experienced museum educators and will work alongside staff from Save The River’s education department, who will provide additional instruction and resources.
Let your child become a River Rat this summer—register for one or both camp days and dive into the science of the St. Lawrence River!
