We’re delighted to welcome Virginia back to the Antique Boat Museum as part of our In-Water Fleet. Built in 1894 by the Gas Engine & Power Co., Virginia is a 40-foot glass-cabin launch that represents the early era of powered pleasure boating.
Deaccessioned from the Museum’s permanent collection in 2018 after many years in storage, Virginia was given the opportunity to receive the stewardship she needed. She subsequently underwent a full restoration by Freedom Boat Service in Minnesota. Her owners, Joseph and Mary Pregont, have now generously donated the beautifully restored vessel back to ABM.
Relaunched as the first electric vessel in the In-Water Fleet, Virginia ushers in a new chapter for the Museum, with special programming currently in development. With her graceful clipper bow, enclosed passenger space, and opulent interior, she closely resembles her larger predecessors—the steam yachts—and offers a refined and historic way to experience the St. Lawrence River.
The winner will be picked at the Small Craft Festival on October 10!
