Intro to Small Craft

Our Intro to Small Craft course is designed for children ages 4–7 to explore the St. Lawrence River in a fun, safe, and social environment. Over three days, students connect with peers their age while learning the absolute basics of boating in non-powered craft. Instructors introduce simple skills like knot tying, rowing, and steering, along with teamwork, communication, and boat safety. Young sailors also learn beginner-friendly terminology, including parts of a boat, names of common knots, and essential nautical words. Throughout the week, students get the chance to ride in a St. Lawrence skiff and our antique sailboats, always with instructors on board and on shore for guidance. Each day wraps up with a snack and a swim, keeping the experience enjoyable and memorable for our youngest river explorers.

Cost: $70 ($63 for current members)
