Advanced Sailing

Our Advanced Sailing course is designed for students who are confident on the water and ready to take their skills to the next level. This six-day course emphasizes independence, boat handling, and more technical sailing knowledge. Throughout the week, sailors work with a variety of boats, including Sunfish and C420’s to practice advanced maneuvers such as roll tacking, roll jibing, efficient mark rounding, and refined upwind and downwind strategies. Students also learn practical seamanship skills like anchoring, docking, advanced knot tying, and using different sail controls to get the most out of changing wind conditions. Instructors introduce racing basics, overboard recovery techniques, trapeze safety, and teamwork in double-handed boats. By the end of the week, students will have strengthened both their sailing ability and their decision-making, preparing them for more challenging conditions, competitive sailing, or future leadership roles on the water.
