Dear ABM Enthusiast,
Greetings to you from Clayton, New York.
We sincerely hope as you read this that you and your family are healthy and continue to be well.
The Antique Boat Museum is carrying on with preparations for the open season, under very different circumstances. COVID-19 has impacted the world and while we are on the banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River, which may seem like the ideal location, the devastation is felt here in the 1000 Islands as well.
As many of you know, the North Country met all requirements to begin Phase One of Governor Cuomo’s NY Forward reopening plan last Friday, May 15. Using this four-phase plan as a guide, the Antique Boat Museum anticipates a new opening date of Saturday, June 27. As we work towards reopening, our primary concern is the health and well-being of our visitors, staff, volunteers, and the communities we serve; we will continue to meet NYS regulations and CDC recommendations. Knowing it won’t be a “normal” summer, our efforts are focused on reimagining and the remainder of 2020 and we will share further information on events and classes as the season unfolds. Stay healthy.
Although we are not set up to telecommute, team members are doing what they can to remain actively involved in the planning and programming to keep as much normalcy as possible.
The Museum is truly grateful for the continued membership support we are seeing and we cannot emphasize enough, our gratitude to those who are choosing to make a gift, renew a membership or just send an email of support to the Museum during such uncertain times.
The following changes have been made to our 2020 Schedule:
- MAY 1: Museum Open for Season – POSTPONED to June 27, 2020
- MAY 16: Volunteer Brunch – POSTPONED TBD
- MAY 29-31: ABM & ACBS Symposium Weekend – POSTPONED to October 2-4, 2020
- JUNE 6: 1000 Islands Family Day – POSTPONED to September 13, 2020
- JUNE 5-12: Great International Steamboat Flotilla – POSTPONED to 2021
- JUNE 27: 1000 Islands Concours d’Elegance – POSTPONED to 2021
The Museum is excited to be planning a “Virtual Opening” on May 1st! Collaborations with Woody Boater and The Wooden Boat Experience are underway to bring all of you a new type of Antique Boat Museum experience.
Please stay in touch and stay healthy! We will open our doors again soon, in the meantime, check your in-box for the latest ABM news and updates. Thank you for your support!
All our best,
Executive Director & ABM Staff Team
