SUMMARY:Hooked on Fishing\, Not on Drugs
DESCRIPTION:The Antique Boat Museum is proud to continue its collaboration with the Future Fisherman Foundation by hosting a two-day program called Hooked on Fishing\, Not on Drugs. The mission of the Future Fisherman Foundation is to unite the sportfishing industry\, a nationwide network of state outdoor educators\, national conservation groups\, and youth organizations dedicated to introducing America’s youth to angling and the outdoors. Hooked on Fishing\, Not on Drugs uses the development of angling skills as a gateway to teach adolescents about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and how to deal with the challenges facing them in their young lives. Beyond fishing\, topics covered include fish biology\, human environmental impact\, and life skills. Local fishing guide Tom Gillette of Classic Charters will instruct students ages 12-17 for two mornings and will conclude the program with a traditional 1000 Islands Shore Dinner. This program is offered free of charge and students will leave class with the equipment necessary to continue their newfound hobby.
