Submit a Research Request
The Lou Smith Library and Marion Clayton Link Archives are open to researchers Mondays 9am to 5pm; Thursdays 9am to 12 noon; Fridays 1pm to 4pm and other times by appointment. To make an appointment for library and archive research, or to enquire further about the Museum's holdings, please contact John Summers, Chief Curator jsummers@abm.org, 315.686.4104 x 225.
To submit a research request, download a research request form using the link below and fax or mail it to the Museum, attention: John Summers, Chief Curator. Staff will begin to work on the request upon receipt, and will contact you as soon as the material has been located to review your options for receiving the information. Payment must be received before the material will be shipped. For enquiries as to whether our archives has information on a particular boat or engine manufacturer, there is no charge. Beyond that, a flat fee of $10 will be charged to respond to all basic research requests. Requests involving substantial amounts of time or reproduction will be charged an additional hourly rate, for which you will receive a quotation before the work is undertaken. Please note that these fees apply whether you submit a research request by mail, phone or in person. Proceeds received from research fees help defray the costs associated with maintaining the Museum's archival and library collections.
