As a First Mate aboard your boat, just how familiar are you with its operation? What if the Skipper should become disabled? Would you know what to do? Would you know how to call for help? Would you be able to tell rescuers where you are? Would you be able to navigate to a safe port?
The First Mate Safe Return© course is designed to teach fundamental skills that will enable a First Mate to do the right thing if the Skipper should become disabled for whatever reason. The class is also perfect for someone relatively new to the world of boating who needs guidance in boat handling. The course will be taught by USCG-Licensed Captains from Sodus Bay Maritime Captain’s Association and will include a half-day classroom lecture and on-the-water coaching and demonstration on your own boat. The on-the-water coaching and demonstration will be arranged at the mutual convenience of the First Mate and a USCG-Licensed Captain from the Antique Boat Museum.
